Without a doubt one of the most popular games in the world is Poker and these days with the amount of poker sets available to buy online you don’t need to go to a casino to play. Poker or Blackjack are great games to play with friends or family at home. There are many poker chip sets available online but in this review we are going to look at is by Trademark Poker.
This is an affordable entry level poker set designed for fun home use, not high stakes poker matches.
Aluminium Case
The complete set is housed in a lightweight aluminium case with a black felt lining. It comes with keys to lock it if you so wish, check under the chips to find the keys when it is delivered. The trays the chips are housed in holds them tightly. The only flaw in the design appears to be the plastic handle, with its contents the case is really heavy and we are not sure if the handle is strong enough to take the weight. Just be careful and take caution when carrying it.
Inside the case are stored 500 casino quality poker chips, 2 decks of cards [1 red pack, 1 blue], 2 blind buttons and a dealer button.
The Poker Chips
included are 150 white chips, 200 red chips, 100 green and 50 black one reviewer did comment that the white chip is usually the lowest denomination chip at a casino so it would make sense to have more white chips. Luckily the chips are blank so you can allocate your own monetary denominations to them. The chips are all 11.5 grams in weight and measure 39mm. They are made from composite resin which gives them a heavier feel that is close to but not quiet casino quality. We still think for the cost that they offer value for them and are better than using cheap plastic tiddly-wink chips that a lot of stores are selling.
The main negatives were the poor quality of the playing cards but as most reviewers mentioned they were buying the set for the chips and case and could easily replace the playing cards. If you are looking for a good brand try Bicycle playing cards. Some reviewers complained of the case and packaging arriving damaged to varying degrees.
Our Verdict
This is an affordable poker chip set with everything needed to play. If you are a regular poker player and looking for a set that will impress the boys then I’d suggest looking for a more expensive set but if you are playing occasionally with friends or family then this set is more than adequate. It has enough chips for a group of 4-6 people to play and would make a great beginner poker set for someone interested in starting to play. If you are giving it as a gift and want to make it a little better replace the existing pack of cards with Bicycle brand cards.
